Clean-up data in the black
THE council’s environmental department has been accused of an information ‘black out’ over the state of Stockport’s cleanliness.
Members of the Central area committee had received regular reports at meetings containing facts and figures about issues in the ward areas it covers.
Information includes the number of instances of graffiti, fly-tipping, waste presented for collection incorrectly and dumped cars.
But at the latest meeting on Thursday there was no such report.
Members were told this had been stopped to bring the Central committee into line with the six others which are not given this information.
Councillor Philip Harding told the meeting: “I think we want to continue seeing this information.
“We don’t want to be blacked out of information.
“I would like an email confirming we will be receiving that report in the near future.
Council public realm officer Jackie Budd, who had told the meeting the report would not be provided, agreed to pass the request on to her manager.
