New awards category – but time is running out

-

THERE’S not long left to get your entry in for Stockport Business Awards.

This week we profile Most Promising Young Business, and a category which is new for 2015; The ‘We Are Stockport’ Award.

MOST PROMISING YOUNG BUSINESS

The Most Promising Young Business (up to three years) award recognises a young business that has already begun to achieve real success in its early years.

The award, which is sponsored by Leemic, was won last year by The Indian Tiffin Room, who were also named amongst TripAdvisor’s top 10 places to eat in Greater Manchester in 2014.

Entrants of this category will be asked to explain the background to the business, the business vision and the research that was undertaken when the business was in development.

They will also have to demonstrate how the business has performed so far and what its future projections are.

Nick Pendebury, director at Leemic, said: “As one of Stockport’s longest serving businesses, we are always excited to see new companies starting in the borough. Anybody who has the courage to start up a new business needs commending and furthermore, anybody who can demonstrate their new start up becoming a success needs huge congratulations.

“We are acutely aware of the hard work, determination and dedication it takes to start a business from a scratch.

“If you want to achieve recognition for success early in the life of your business then this category is definitely for you.”

THE ‘WE ARE STOCKPORT’ AWARD

We Are Stockport is a newly-launched website which acts as a publishing platform for all the great news stories in Stockport.

They have partnered up with Stockport Business Awards to create the ‘We Are Stockport’ Award, a brand new category for 2015 that organisers expect will attract a lot of interesting entries.

The ‘We Are Stockport’ Award is here to celebrate Stockport, unearth the hidden gems and reveal the borough’s heroes and heroines. The winner of this award can be a person or a place, a heritage site, a sporting legend, a community group, landmark or tourist destination, or a thriving business – any- thing or anyone that has brought benefit to Stockport businesses and the wider community.

Rachel Wallace, Place Campaign Manager for We Are Stockport, said; “We live in a fantastic place rich in culture, sport, leisure, retail, education and business opportunities – weaved together by a friendly mix of people who are proud, independent, skilled and committed to supporting each other.

“This award is quite wide-ranging – if you make Stockport proud, then it’s for you.”

Entries are open until the end of June and winners will be announced at the ceremony at Stockport Town Hall on October 15. Entry criteria and entry forms are available on the Stockport Business Awards website www. stockport businessawards.co.uk. The Stockport Business Awards is an event set up for businesses by businesses. It is organised by accountancy practice Clarke Nicklin, and headline sponsors are high profile businesses from the region; Gorvins Solicitors, Orbit Developments and NatWest.
