Management buyout team are in the swim
SWIMMING pool engineering firm FT Leisure has been bought by its management team.
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, was led by two of the founding directors, Simon Whittingham and Martin Elvin, and will see a number of shareholders exit the business.
The Bredbury-based company is the UK’s leading provider of products and technical services for the commercial, municipal and private swimming pool industries.
Bosses said the MBO will help it fulfil its ambitious domestic and international expansion plans.
Mr Whittingham said FT Leisure has worked on some of the UK’s most prestigious swimming pool projects including the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow, which hosted the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the Manchester City Football Academy, which has nine swimming pools, and the Manchester Aquatics Centre.
He said: “There are around 8,000 public swimming pools in the UK and, following the management buyout, the company is now in an excellent position to cement its market leading position in the UK.”
