Marple gears up for all the fun of the fair as the carnival comes to town
MARPLE is once again warming up for its annual carnival – and the theme for this year’s event is ‘superheroes’.
The carnival will take place on Saturday (June 20) with a number of attractions including the parade, entertainment and fairground rides in Memorial Park, a car boot sale and market stalls.
The car boot will be open from 8am and the market stalls will be trading from 10am.
There will be circus skills in the park between 12 noon and 4pm, and a dog show between 1.30pm and 3pm.
The parade will set off at 1pm and is expected to last until around 3pm, when the crowning of the carnival royalty will take place.
There will also be mini golf, go karts and live music from 12.30pm.
The dog show includes a number of categories including waggiest tail, dog that looks most like its owner, best rescue, best trick and fancy dress,
Registration will take place from 1pm and the entry fee is £2 per dog per class, or as many classes with the same dog as you like for £5.
There will also be a superhero fun day taking place at the Marple Tavern from 2pm.
There will be a disco and visits from George the Pirate, Peppa Pig, Batman, Robin and Spiderman.
There will also be a bouncy castle, inflatable bungee, and fancy dress competition with a prize for the best-dressed superhero.
The event has been organised by local company Delta Entertainments, and the bouncy castles are being provided by Big Kids Little Kids.
