Charity cash on the menu at fundraiser
A CHARITY night at an Italian restaurant in Heaviley saw £1,600 raised for a worthy cause.
There was a three course meal and live entertainment at Amici’s, on Buxton Road, as well as a raffle.
Music was provided by Elvis tribute act Gary Ross and money raised was given to the Weekend Day Centre for Dementia Care, based at the Whitehill Resource Centre.
Half the revenue raised from meals will be given to the centre, which relies entirely on donations and has been operating for 24 years.
It has more than 2,000 clients and carers and provides social and day care.
Among the guests at the evening was the outgoing Mayor of Stockport Councillor Kevin Hogg.
Jo Davies, from the centre, said: “On the night we raised over £1,600 for entertainment and social activities for clients of the centre.
“All the staff attended the evening in support of some much needed funds and a fabulous evening had by all.
“The Weekend Day Centre provides weekend and Bank Holiday day care when there is nothing else for people at weekends.
“It helps people who care round the clock for their loved ones to have a much needed break and helps them keep their husbands, wives, mum or dad living at home longer.”
