Palace visit rewards Guide’s selfless work
A YOUNG woman from Cheadle Heath represented Girlguiding for a Royal appointment at Buckingham Palace.
Hannah Johnson, 22, was invited to a garden party as a thank you for her work co-ordinating for Girlguiding’s peer education programme.
Through the programme she is specially trained to talk to other young women and girls about sensitive issues including body confidence and relationships.
Hannah is a leader at groups in Stockport including First Norris Bank and St Martins Rainbows.
She is also a swimming teacher at Life Leisure Stockport and a teaching assistant, despite being diagnosed with arthritis as a child.
Hannah said: “We lined a path for the Queen to walk down. She actually walked past only feet away from me. It was a wonderful day.
“Guiding is a life changing organisation. They do everything they can to help you, that’s why I became a leader so that I could give back.”
