Big Lunch is big fun for Stockport charity
VISITORS to a Stockport charity enjoyed food and entertainment.
Stockport Progress and Recovery Centre (SPARC), on Adswood Lane East, Cale Green, welcomed people for a Big Lunch event.
Part of a national campaign by the Eden Project to promote better mental health and prevent social isolation, it was organised in conjunction with charity MIND.
There was music and dance entertainment from acts including the Urban Gypsies and Jan Silins’ Tropical Dance group.
A tombola and plant sale also took place
Natalie Wright, one of the organisers, said: “The Big Lunch gave people the chance to meet others on a Sunday, often the most isolating day of the week.
“Entertainers created a fun atmosphere for visitors. Our aims were to raise awareness of mental distress, to help people connect, and to have fun.”
Organisers have thanked Morrisons, Gresty’s Florist, Woodford Garden Centre, B&Q and Wyevale Garden Centre, Marple, for their donations.
