Green down to last 16
HAWK Green CC reached their first regional final and were drawn against Northop Hall, North Wales, from the Liverpool Competition League.
Asked to bat first the Green had an early setback losing their two openers with only 18 on the board.
Skipper Pete Richards and youngster Elliott Young then shared a stand of 150, with 74 and 72 respectively, and with Jordan Henderson scoring a quick 32 the innings closed on a very respectable 245-9.
The Northop openers raced to 77-0 after only nine overs but the introduction of Richards and Young to the attack slowed the rate and when Richards took the first wicket it was all downhill for Northop who collapsed to 132 all out with Young taking three wickets. Logan Jeffs, bowling in his first 1st X1 game, finished with figures of seven overs 3- 14 and Mark Richards mopped up with 3-0, putting Hawk Green in the last 16 in the country.
