Compstall cruise in for Hayfield win

HAYFIELD batted first at Compstall in Saturday’s Division 1 clash and posted 231-7, Shane Furness with 59 and Gareth Davies 46 as R Lindley took 4-59. David Bailey then hit a magnificen­t unbeaten 113, P Jackson 30 and S Jackson 49 as Compstall romped to 237-2.

Broadbotto­m continued their pursuit of league leaders Dinting as they bowled visitors Old Glossop out for 223, D Eyre making 58 and J Sagar 56 as Chris Cheetham-Roberts took 3-42 and Steve Croft 3-28.

In reply, Broadbotto­m lost eight wickets in reaching 224, CheethamRo­berts scoring 74, L Shufflebot­ham 42 and Jay Riley 39 while Rob Adderley took 3-61 and Matt Woodcock 5-60.

Woodley travelled to Hadfield and hit 179-7 as Jamie Kay top-scored with 39 while Rob Hirst took 4-49 and Jamie Squires 3-38. T Wyche then scored 37 for the home side but 3-15 from Connor Cranwell saw Hadfield bowled out for just 128.

Tintwistle travelled to Hawk Green and posted 200-8 batting first, P Higginbott­om with 79, Martin Harris 45 and S Barrow 36 not out while Mark Richards took 3-38.

Pete Richards then struck 43 and J Henderson 41 but 4-41 from Martin Harris and 4-10 from M Robinson saw the home side bowled out for 154.

Whaley Bridge were all out for just 128 at Mottram, Sam Slack with 52 as A Burke took 4-39, Oliver Andrew 3-28 and Ryan Fitton 3-7. Josh Smith then made 52 as Mottram cruised to 130-3.

New Mills took first knock at home to Dinting and were 138 all out, Danny Brightmore taking 4-26. Brightmore was then the star with the bat as he hit an unbeaten 62 as Dinting closed 142-5.

In Division 2, Hollingwor­th batted first at Birch Vale and were bowled out for 171, M Asim making 63 and J Miller 58 while R Johnson took 7-58. Johnson then hit 34 but 3-33 from M Asim and J Miller also with 3-33 saw the home side 140 all out.

Dove Holes batted first at home to Buxton and posted 183-9, Dave Cartledge with 53 as J Parsons took 4-40.

T Griffin then scored 45 for the home side but Cory Flint took 5-45 and Jack Gregory 4-39 to see Buxton bowled out for 133.

Buxworth travelled to Charleswor­th and were 156 all out batting first, S Leatherbar­row making 43 as Jonny Wardle took 4-46 and Phil Elliott 3-43. It proved to be enough as Charleswor­th collapsed to 96 all out, Nathan Critchlow taking 4-38.

Hazel Grove elected to bat at High Lane and could only make 139-9, Andy Thurston hitting 40 while Joe Chorlton took 3-30 and Ryan Nixon 4-37.

High Lane made light work of the chase as they cruised to 140-3, Josh Noel with 59 and Nixon 37.

Dinting elected to bat at home to New Mills in Division 3 and scored 191 all out, Matt Coleman with 57, T George 47 and A Worrall 38 as Tom Boardman took 3-47 and R Dolan 6-57. Usman Ali then hit 70 for New Mills but 5-21 from E walsh and 3-42 from B Thompson saw the visitors bowled out for just 129.

Hawk Green chose to bat first at Newton and amassed 248-9 as D Littler hit 89, Luke Young 40 and extras contribute­d 49 while G Ashworth took 3-37.

Newton were then all out for just 112 despite 35 from J Mercer, Jack Needham taking 3-19 and George Ridings 3-14.

Hadfield batted first at Woodley and scored an impressive 201-6, G Snowball with 79, P Drury 50 and C Eyre 44 as Phil Harris took 3-39.

However, it was a well judged run chase as Woodley replied with 204-5, P Cocks hitting 79 with J Duggan and Gaz McHendry unbeaten on 32 and 39 respective­ly.

In Division 4, Compstall posted 119-9 batting first at Buxton, Ravi Patel with 37 as Phil Slater took 4-12. S Betts then anchored the Buxton reply with 32 as the home side reached 121-7, Mike Hawkin taking 4-25.

High Lane batted first at Hazel Grove and had Chris Ryles (62) to thank for their total of 111 all out. Zunnor Choudhury then took 4-18 for the visitors but the home side limped to 112-9 thanks to a fine last-wicket stand between Charlie Higson and C Nunn.
