Poynton still blowing hot and cold

- MARTIN SAXON POYNTON ................ 170-7 RUNCORN ..................... 95

POYNTON continued their recent record of winning alternate matches, and have also won all but one of their home matches to date.

Simon Dunn continued his excellent recent form, racing to 75 from 83 deliveries in typically aggressive style to record a personal first team career best.

Nathan Baxter again outlined his batting abilities by scoring 32 in an opening stand of 112 with Dunn.

Things were never quite so good thereafter, as Jarryd Phillips bagged five wickets, but Poynton had certainly posted a competitive total.

Poynton completed the victory by bowling out the visitors in just 33 overs.

There was a flurry of early wickets for Jimmy Williams, another Poynton player in excellent form in recent weeks, and Andy Heath blasted out the lower order.

The challenge now for Poynton is to start winning more away games, and to put together back-to-back wins for the first time since the opening two weekends of the season.

This quest continues at Heaton Mersey on Saturday
