Superheroe­s hit the streets of Marple

CAPED crusaders braved the rain and came out in force for the weekend’s super hero-the med Marple Carnival.

The event took place on Saturday with a number of attraction­s including entertainm­ent and fairground rides in Memorial Park, a car boot sale, market stalls and the grand parade.

Pupils and staff at All Saints’ Primary School won first place for their parade float, with Ludworth Primary coming second and Brabyns Preparator­y School third.

There were circus skills in the park, and even a very impressive Batmobile to complete the theme.

And it wasn’t just people who got into the festival spirit – plenty of the pooches in the dog show were also dressed for fighting crime.

The show included a number of categories such as a number of categories including waggiest tail, dog that looks most like its owner, best rescue, best trick and fancy dress.

There was also mini golf, go-karts, live music and a superhero fun day at Marple Tavern that included a bouncy castle, inflatable bungee, fancy dress competitio­n, disco and visits from George the Pirate, Peppa Pig, Batman and Spider-man.
