Golden night for Beechwood for its silver anniversar­y

GUESTS had a ball to celebrate Beechwood Cancer Care Centre’s 25th anniversar­y year, raising over £30,000.

The Silver Butterfly Ball saw 450 guests get dressed up to enjoy the celebratio­ns at The Palace Hotel in Manchester on Saturday.

Attendees were welcomed with a drink, then seated in the stunning grand ballroom, which was dressed free of charge by Eventures of Urmston.

The ball was hosted by Key 103’s Chelsea Norris, who is a patron at Beechwood, and guests were given an insight into the charity’s work by chief executive, Allen Whittaker, who also thanked Key 103’s Cash for Kids for its Super Hero campaign that raised over £100,000 for the charity’s children’s’ bereavemen­t services.

An emotional speech from Kirsty Cooke also left the audience with no doubt why funds are needed at the centre.

Entertainm­ent was provided by magician Sam Hughes and guests also enjoyed the fun photo booth and sparkly makeovers by Wish Upon A Sparkle

Mark Hughes led the auction with prizes includ- ing Madonna, Neil Diamond and One Direction tickets and the chance to own a race horse for the day.

The dancefloor was then filled as Dominic Halpin and the Honey Bees performed the most amazing set.

Fundraisin­g manager Angela Gray said: “It was a wonderful night, all the guests looked amazing, they were having a ball. A huge thanks go to all those who attended but special thanks to Brown Shipley, Pareto and Eventures, our wonderful sponsors.”

The Silver Wing Appeal, set up to mark its 25th anniversar­y of serving the community, aims to raise £100,000 to enhance patient experience and extend community facilities, including a new café and charity shop.

BEECHWOOD will be holding its annual summer fair on Saturday, June 27, between 10.30am and 1pm. The event, which will be held at the centre, on Chelford Grove, Bridgehall, will include a plant sale, gifts, cards, . refreshmen­ts and much more.
