Woman is punched in face in street robbery
A LONE woman was punched in the face in a late night robbery.
The 34-year-old was ambushed as she walked along Chedlee Drive, Cheadle Hulme, on Saturday at 2.30am as she made her way home from a night out.
Her attacker approached from behind and struck her before stealing a bag containing a change of clothes and keys.
Police have appealed for witnesses but the woman was unable to give officers a description of the man.
She was not seriously injured in the incident.
Inspector Neil Cook, of Stockport’s west area neighbourhood police, said: “This was a cowardly attack on a woman on her own. We would urge people to travel home in groups rather than on their own and also keep to well lit areas.”
Police are also appealing for witnesses to a burglary at Sandileigh Avenue, Cheadle.
The keys to a blue Ford S Max were fished through a letterbox by a crook who then escaped in the car.
It happened some time between Friday at 9.30pm and Saturday at 11am.
