Airport boost will help our firms to take off
FOLLOWING the announcement of the £1bn investment at Manchester Airport, Marketing Stockport and its founding members had a round table discussion with managing director of the airport, Ken O’Toole.
Attended by business owners and senior representatives from a cross-section of Stockport businesses, we heard first- hand about the developments at the airport and the opportunities arriving to the region.
We were taken through the airport development plans and prospects of increasing passenger numbers from 22 million to over 30 million a year by 2025.
The introduction of new routes and accessibility to wider global markets will further enhance the attractiveness of the borough as an ideal location for business.
The airport currently provides access to over 70 airline carriers flying to more than 200 destinations.
Stockport businesses are keen to benefit from such investment on the doorstep whilst the airport as a whole supports approximately £1.8bn of economic activity each year in the north west.
With many businesses starting to utilise opportunities globally, the airport is one of the key facilitators and enablers to help businesses to expand and seek new clients and markets globally.
