Pupils are hit for six at cricket championship
SPORTY youngsters at Marple Hall School are celebrating after being named double boroughwide champions.
Earlier this month the under-15s cricket team at the school on Hill Top Drive attended Cheadle Cricket Club to compete in the U15’s Stockport Schools Borough ‘Chance to Compete’ Cricket Festival.
The previous week the under-13s team had won this competition, so the pressure was on, and in the final against Cheadle Hulme High School Marple Hall took the game by just five runs after Ryan Stringer hit a massive six over midwicket on the final ball.
Ryan was capped as Player of the Tournament.
The winning team were Jack Needham (captain), Alex Newman, Mimmo Schiano Di Colella, Ryan Stringer, Jacob Combey, James Bashford and Joe Nuttall.
