Help Independent Options raise its roof

HAZEL Grove charity Independent Options is launching an urgent appeal after discovering the roof at one of its guest houses needs to be repaired.

The work stands to cost the charity almost £40,000 and is vital for the continuation of its short breaks service.

The charity provides respite breaks to over 110 adults with learning disabilities in Stockport, but this has been put in jeopardy by the cost of the work, so Independent Options is calling on residents to ‘raise its roof’ and donate to the appeal.

There are two guesthouses in the borough where people can enjoy a short break and enjoy the high level of service provided by staff.

There are also activities on offer for guests, such as themed weekends and evenings, day trips and evenings out in pubs and restaurants.

Fundraising manager Lucy Sawdon said: “Independent Options is a small charity that relies on the support from its local community, so while the cost of the work that needs to be carried out is huge, we are hopeful that with your help we can achieve this goal and continue providing an excellent service to our guests.

“No matter the size of your donation, you can rest assured that your contribution will make a difference.”

Independent Options has been going for 25 years and currently provides support services to over 600 children and adults with a range of disabilities.

The charity aims to empower people with disabilities so they can live life to the full, and prides itself on providing a person-centered approach, giving service users control over the care and support they receive.

It provides services such as 24-hour care for people in their own homes, a children’s centre, short breaks for adults, and support for children and young people.
