Fundraising’s a snip for kindly Rhiannon
AN EDGELEY schoolgirl had a hair-raising experience at playtime – she had her long locks cut off for charity.
Rhiannon Jones-Ager, nine, got the chop in the playground at St Matthew’s Primary.
She did it to raise money for Cancer Research UK and so far has collected £350.
The hair will be donated to the Little Princess trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through treatment.
The haircut was done in front of Rhiannon’s pals by teaching assistant Gail Harper.
She lives on Chatham Street with dad Mike, mum Angela and brother Rhys. Angela said: “Rhiannon has her hair trimmed every few months but has been growing it for three years.
“Now she has a short bob, she was going to have it shaved but we talked her out of it.
“Before she was excited but nervous, it was a big thing for her, she loves playing with her hair and putting it in plaits.
“We are so proud of Rhiannon. I am a nurse so I know how much it will mean to people.”
