Grand reasons for a special 500-mile trip

-

THE devoted grandparents of two prep school pupils made a 500-mile round trip to celebrate a special day with them.

Anthony and Claire Ighodaro made the drive to Greenbank Preparatory School in Cheadle Hulme from their home in Surrey to visit Toby, eight, and five-year-old Thomas for Grandparents Day.

More than 100 nans and grandads enjoyed a concert before going back to the classroom to help children with lessons.

Claire, who received a CBE for services to business, and Anthony, an engineer, were both educated in England and Nigeria.

Claire said: “I love the sense of community at Greenbank and that as grandparents we feel our views and concerns count. I feel that every child is known, valued and supported.”
