WOMAN’S TWITTER BID TO DRIVE AWAY THE DOZY PARKERS:
AN ELDERLY lady died in an accident with a car as she put out rubbish at sheltered accommodation.
The 93-year-old was hit on a car park by a Citroen Picasso being reversed by a fellow resident at Patterdale Court in Cheadle on Tuesday, June 23, shortly before 2.30pm.
The pensioner was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital but died of her injuries later that afternoon.
Paramedics who had been called to the scene, off busy Gatley Road, informed police.
Officers have now appealed for witnesses to the incident and launched an investigation. No one has been arrested.
Judith Winterbourne, managing director of Contour Homes which runs Patterdale Court, said: “This is a very tragic incident and our thoughts are with everybody who has been affected.
“Our staff are doing all they can to support the residents at this very difficult time.”
Police have yet to name the woman but a spokesman confirmed an investigation had begun into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
