Celebrity couple at conference
INSPIRAL Carpets star Clint Boon will sing the praises of home birthing at a major event in Manchester.
The music star and XFM DJ and his wife, Charlie, are set to discuss their own experiences at Manchester’s first-ever Home Birth Conference this week and are hoping others may give ‘Call The Midwife’ style birthing a go.
Mrs Boon gave birth to the couple’s two youngest sons – Hector, aged eight, and Cassius, five – at their home in Stockport.
The family described it as ‘idyllic’ and ‘positive’, because they felt in control compared to Mrs Boon’s experience of giving birth in hospital to their eldest son, Oscar, aged 11.
Mr Boon said: “It is something that is very do-able, the NHS is quite supportive of people that want to do it.
“We are encouraging people to investigate it and maybe do it.”
The family, who suffered heartache when their daughter, Luna Bliss, died in 2012 after being born three months premature at Saint Mary’s Hospital, described the NHS as ‘amazing’ and acknowledge that in some circumstances hospital births are the best and safest choice.
