FLY-TIP FINE

-

A MAN who dumped waste including a bathtub without a permit has been fined.

Robert Andrew Ashton, 47, of Appleby Close, Bridgehall, pleaded guilty to fly-tipping at Stockport Magistrates’ Court.

He was fined £200 under the Environmental Protection Act with £417 costs.

Ashton had originally collected waste – also including old carpets and building rubble – from an address on Outwood Road, Heald Green, and been paid £170 to remove it.

A member of the public who later found it on Dark Lane, Bredbury, alerted the council and evidence was found linking it to Ashton.

Councillor Martin Candler, executive member for supporting places, said: “Fly-tipping is very detrimental to our communities, affecting the local environmental quality and posing a threat to humans and wildlife.”
