Fundraising in harmony
HAZEL Grove-based barbershop chorus Harmony Revival has handed over a cheque for over £1,000 to The Christie Hospital.
Chorus members decided to celebrate their 40th anniversary by raising cash for the specialist cancer hospital, but none of them predicted just how successful they would be.
The 30-strong group has spent the past year organising events and fundraisers for the charity, including a number of singing sessions at Handforth Dean and the Sainsbury’s at Cheadle Royal.
They even donated the proceeds from their 40th anniversary commemorative show, held at Romiley Forum, and were able to present a cheque for £1,200 to Stefanie Underhill, community fundraising officer at The Christie.
Chairman Richard Barley said: “We are so pleased to be able to hand over this amazing sum of money to a much-loved charity.
“We’re so lucky to have an organisation such as this one literally on our doorstep, and we just wanted to help in some way.
“We hope the money raised over the last year will make a difference and contribute to the amazing work that The Christie is known for.”
Harmony Revival is looking to expand in this, its 41st year, and is actively recruiting new members. No experience is necessary.
