Bradley puts Tintwistle to the sword


IN Division 1, Tintwistle batted first at Compstall and could only post 127-8, R Patel scoring 41 as D Heginbotha­m took 3-57 from 23 overs and S Bass 3-54 from 22!

Rob Bradley then hit an unbeaten 50 as Compstall reached 128-3.

Hawk Green claimed an easy victory as they hosted Woodley, the visitors only made 102 all out batting first with Danny Kay top scoring on 31 while J Henderson took 5-40.

Pete Richards then smashed 73 not out as Hawk Green closed 103-2.

New Mills batted first at home to Old Glossop and were bowled out for 175, J Duckworth with 44, Callum Firth 44 and M Birchenall 34 as Matt Woodcock took 3-29.

Old Glossop were then bowled out for 145 in reply, A Nicolson hitting 31 and M McGrail 45 while M Birchenall taking 6-30.

Chapel were asked to bat first by visitors Hazel Grove in Division 2 and were bowled out for 124, J Berry top scoring with 41 while Dom Nunn bowled 23 overs claiming 7-49. A Thurston then hit 64 and Geoff Noden 32 not out as Hazel Grove closed on 127-6.

High Lane were asked to bat first as they travelled to Charleswor­th, going on to make 199 all out, Gareth Hughes hitting 45 and Jonny Marshall 67 while Phil Elliott took 6-55 and Gaz Evans 3-47.

Charleswor­th then struggled to maintain the required run rate eventually closing on 115-9, Josh Noel taking 4-27.

Offerton travelled to Hollingwor­th and posted 163 all out, T Fletcher top scoring with 40 as Jack Miller took 3-34. Mike Knight then anchored the Hollingwor­th reply with an unbeaten 84 as the home side reached 164-4.

In Division 3, Woodley were bowled out for just 102 having elected to bat against visiting Hawk Green, A Rippon top scoring with 30 as Ryan Stringer took 5-20 and Jack Needham 3-12. Needham then hit an unbeaten 67 as Hawk Green cruised to 106-2.

There was a thrilling game at Newton as they entertaine­d Dove Holes. The home side batted first posting 215-5, J Maden with 56 and O Marrow 52 as R Hawkes took 4-49. Hawkes then hit 61 and M Gold 59 as Dove Holes closed on their target but 3-8 from Mark Barnard saw the home side limit the visitors to 211-7.

Old Glossop smashed 380-8 at home to New Mills, T Wright with 114, Lenny Allsopp 85, SJames 39 and J Taylor 32 as R Dolan took 5-58. It was too much for New Mills as they could only muster 154 all out, M Ruffell with 35 and A Stevens 30 while Ivan Twist took 3-54.

Hazel Grove batted first at home to Chapel in Division 4 and scored 233-8, experience­d batsmen Andy Oldfield with 85 and Andy Rodgers an unbeaten 54.

It was the youthful bowling attack that completed the win though as Joe Wilkinson took 3-35 and Joe Hall 4-34, John They having scored 38 and L Storer 39 not out for Chapel.

High Lane elected to bat at home to Charleswor­th and made 200-9, Pat Firth with 51 and A Simpson 39 while S Gilham took 3-34 and T Bates 3-45. T Burns then hit 38 but 3-17 from Firth assisted by 3 outfield catches from Danny Wigley saw the visitors all out on 162.

Whaley Bridge were bowled out for 170 by hosts Offerton, C kitchen making 39 as W Akram took 4-28 and U Khan 3-37. Khan then hit 36 and R McDonald 30 as Offerton reached 171-6, E Kitchen taking 3-23.

Compstall were all out for just 88 batting first at Tintwistle, Ravi Patel making 56 as Kev Nield took 4-21. There was no mistake from the Tintwistle openers as they both finished not out, M Lilley on 38 and S Morris 40 in a total of 89-0
