‘Burglars’ make river getaway
A GANG of suspected burglars jumped into a river to get away from a break-in that went wrong.
Four men fled from Trojan Airsoft, on Viaduct Street, central Stockport, on Tuesday at midnight.
They were disturbed by a member of staff and jumped into the River Mersey near King Street Bridge, sparking a police hunt with dogs and a helicopter.
Firefighters were also called in case any of the men needed rescuing.
Nothing was stolen in the break in at Trojan Airsoft, a business that specialises in military simulation games in Weir Mill.
Police later arrested a 40-year-old man who was in custody for questioning.
Officers have appealed for witnesses to the break-in. Anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
