Tributes to tragic teacher

-

TRIBUTES have been paid to an ‘inspirational’ teenage dance teacher at Stockport Academy who was tragically killed in a motorbike accident.

Elliott Xavier Campion, 19, who ran a weekly club and classes at the Cheadle Heath school, died when he lost control of his bike and collided with railings on Saturday evening.

The popular and talented street dancer, who had performed with Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson, had been working with pupils for their Summer Dance Show.

It will go ahead in his honour on Monday with the Elliott Campion award handed out to the most inspirational student of the year.

Pupils will also perform in black T-shirts with his name written on the back.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident, which happened in Salford at 9.30pm. No other vehicles were involved and Elliot, who lived in Salford, died at the scene.

As the dance community learned of his death there have been a flood of tributes.

Elliott had also danced at Sunshine Studios in Manchester since the age of 10 and Jerry Tse, from the studio, posted a moving tribute on social media.

It said: “There has never been any doubt in anyone’s mind that you would get to the top. You were a star that simply shone too bright and it was inevitable that you would succeed at the top.

“Today’s news has left me and many others devastated, I still can’t believe you are no longer with us, at 19 you were ready to take over the dance world, and leave every dancer that sees you in awe.

“You will be greatly missed and always have a special place in my heart.”

Elliott was also a talented actor and a model, and was a member of A2AA dance group set up by George Sampson.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident who should call 856 4745.
