Young performers to play at park festival

-

THE second annual Torrs Youth Festival is due to take place on Saturday (July 11).

The event, which is dedicated to young people and showcases performers aged between 12 and 18, will be on at Torr Vale Park in New Mills.

Performers on the day will include bands Loose Ties, Blank Cheque and singer-songwriter Jennifer Hyman.

There will also be a range of food stalls, and stalls from the Teenage Market – a scheme that offers young entrepreneurs a free market stall to showcase their business idea.

Event organiser Scott Buckler said: “Providing a dedicated festival for young people is something both myself and my team from Visit New Mills feel passionately about.

“The day is an opportunity for young people and families to come along and enjoy live music, food, drink and activities.”

The festival, which is free to attend and is on from midday, also aims to raise awareness of youth services in High Peak, and will be raising funds for sports equipment, computers and music items for local youth centres.
