The Wild West is coming to town

-

VISITORS to Stockport Carnival will step back in time to the days of cowboys, sheriffs and outlaws.

The theme for this year’s event, held on July 25, is the Wild West and organisers are hoping guests will get into the swing of things.

As well as floats and walking groups in the procession dressing up for the theme there will be entertainment including line dancing from local schools.

Among those taking part will be Vernon Primary pupils.

The parade will set off from Belmont Way at 1pm with the fun day at Woodbank Park lasting from 10am to around 5pm.

Here there will be stalls, games, a fun fair, car boot sale and the crowning of carnival queens.

Councillor Patrick McAuley, part of the organising committee, said: “The Wild West is a fun theme that gives people a lot of opportunity to use their imagination for costumes and floats.

“So we are urging people to get their glad rags on and come down and have a good time. I’ll be dressing as a cowboy.

“We are hoping to get schools involved and it will be a fantastic day.”

The event is being sponsored Orbit Developments.
