Data company backs young people award

-

CHESHIRE Datasys-tems (CDL) are the latest category sponsors of the Stockport Business Awards.

The software solutions firm, based at Kings Reach, are backing The Award for Developing Young People.

This award recognises businesses in the borough that help young people gain a good start to their lives and future careers and will be awarded to a business that encourages talented young people to stay in the region.

Last year the shortlisted companies were SAS Daniels, Damar Training and Cheshire Scaffolds, with Cheshire Scaffolds taking the top prize on the night.

Peter Larkham, HR director for CDL, said; “As a major employer in Stockport, we have tripled our workforce since 2006, and continue to create additional jobs into 2015.

“Through our apprenticeship scheme we aim to equip young people from the local area with the skills and support necessary to fill some of these jobs.

“We are passionate about giving young people a chance, and so are delighted to sponsor The Award for Developing Young People.

“I’m looking forward to finding out which companies the judges have shortlisted in a couple of weeks’ time.”

CDL join a strong group of high-profile businesses that already sponsor the awards, including MAN Diesel & Turbo, Ashcroft Creative Design, Marketing Stockport, Leemic and Metronet UK.

Andrew Baggott, from organisers Clarke Nicklin, added; “I’m thrilled that CDL have become involved with the awards.

“Having successful and thriving local businesses backing the scheme can only strengthen our ability to find, award and showcase the very best that Stockport has to offer.”

Nominations for Stockport Business Awards 2015 are now closed with judging taking place today, July 8.

The awards dinner will take place in October and ticket details will be released soon.
