County on airwaves after fan’s donation
STOCKPORT County’s radio commentaries next season have been secured thanks to a £3,800 donation from an anonymous Hatters fan living in the northeast of England.
The benefactor has agreed to sponsor the commentaries for the second season in a row, with the commercial benefits being gifted once again to local charity The Wellspring, which supports homeless and disadvantaged people across the borough of Stockport.
It means full-match commentaries will be broadcast every week across the town, despite a reduction in funding for Pure Innovations, the charity which operates Pure 107.8FM.
Pure commentator Jon Keighren said: “To renew the donation is an incredible gesture. I have been in regular contact with our sponsor all year and it is difficult to find the words to thank him.
“I hope we can have a truly memorable season under new manager Neil Young, and really give him his money’s worth!”
Stockport County Live will return to Pure 107.8FM on Saturday August 8 from 2pm for the first game of the new campaign against Boston United at Edgeley Park.
The game will also be available online for subscribers to CountyPlayer through www. stockportcounty.com.
