The Wilko Best Roller Kit 9in (£6.95, Wilko) has a micropoly sleeve to pick up more paint and a screw-thread handle to take an extension pole. It comes with a paint tray that’s much deeper than most and so easier to use because the paint doesn’t spill over the sides. With two compartments for your brushes, this is an extremely well- designed tray.
Also, you won’t get far without good brushes, and the Wilko Best Brush Set 5pk (£9.95, Wilko) fits the bill nicely. The set comprises five comfy to hold brushes in a range of sizes, with long bristles that hold their shape and don’t shed – unlike some other cheaper brushes. At less than a tenner, this is a great buy.
If you need a bigger or smaller brush, you can buy them individually – the Wilko Best Brush 0.5in (£1.95, Wilko) is just as affordable and perfect for detail work.
