By George... woman has a sticky predicament

-

A WOMAN’S night in the pub ended in embarrassment when she got stuck under a bar seat and had to be rescued by firefighters.

Crews from King Street station were called to The George on Wellington Road South in Stockport town centre in the early hours of Monday morning.

A 35-year-old woman had been having a drink when she dropped her phone under a seat.

But when she crawled under to retrieve it she could not get out, much to the amusement of her pals.

A member of staff called 999 and firefighters arrived at 12.30am to free her.

They pulled a leg off the seat, which was fixed to the pub wall, and the woman was able to shuffle out to freedom.

She was unhurt and was trapped for around 30 minutes.

Matt Rooney, watch officer at King Street station, said: “We have rescued people from various predicaments but never from a bar seat before.

“She was all right but a bit embarrassed.

“Her friend was laughing at it.

“She had crawled under to get her mobile phone.

“We had difficulty reaching the screws under the seat so in the end we just pulled off the main leg that was obstructing her.

“If someone is stuck and they need our help then we will go and help.”
