AMAN is organising a charity fundraising event in memory of his sister who died aged just 43.

Philip Hamilton’s sister Michelle died in January as a result of complications of Crohn’s disease.

Now he is planning a Las Vegas-style casino night at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park ground next month to raise money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

Philip says he hopes the fundraiser on Saturday, August 8, will become an annual event in his sister’s memory.

The night will feature dinner and dancing, as well as Vegas-style show girls and burlesque performers, a casino and a grand prize raffle.

Michelle grew up in Stockport and lived in Heaton Norris for many years before moving to Kent several years ago.

She was admitted to hospital 14 times in the 15 months before she died, and gradually become more and more unwell before passing away from organ failure.

Michelle leaves behind her husband, David Ashby, three children, Stephanie, 24, James, 12, and five-year-old Eloise as well as four grandchildren. A coroner is currently carrying out an investigation into her death after her family raised concerns about the standard of care she received.

Michelle was brought home to Stockport, where her eldest daughter still lives, and was buried at Mill Lane Cemetery in Cheadle.

Philip, who now lives in Salford, said: “Shelly had Crohn’s since she was about 17 and had a terrible time of it in the last 15 months of her life.

“I just felt like I had to do something for her, in her memory. She died so young.

“We are never going to be able to bring her back and all we have left now is memories.

“We also just want to raise awareness so other families don’t have to go through what we went through.

“Shelly was my dear friend and sister.

“She was always someone I could speak with and she was taken too soon.

“We had so much more we had to talk about as we grew old.

“She is now my shinning angel looking down over me until we meet again.

“She is forever in my thoughts, I love and miss her loads.”

Tickets from the ball are £20 each and are available by calling 07805 039217. For more information see heathers events.co.uk.
