Disley herald return of pro am match

- GOLF GEOFF GARNETT

DISLEY Golf Club will be staging their first pro am since 1990 – when they were visited by the Ladies European Tour – and it will be held on August 2 in support of the School Bus Foundation charity (www. theschoolbusfoundation. org).

Disley Captain Geoff Gable is delighted with the project and he said: “The charity provides education to disadvantaged children and young people and provides opportunities which can make a positive difference to their lives.

“The early pro am days attracted some big names such as Bob Charles, who set a course record of 63, Greg Norman and Maurice Bembridge and we are again looking to attract a quality field.

“The event is sponsored by HCSS education and has a purse value of up to £4,500 and is a recognised event approved and mon- itored by the PGA.

“The competitions will be for teams of three players with one PGA professional in each group.

“Entries are still available and for details contact the pro shop at Disley on 01663 764001 or email cegolf100@gmail.com.
