Thieves torched stolen car
A STOLEN car was dumped and set alight on a residential street with the fire damaging three other cars.
The Ford Ka was torched on Rushton Drive, Marple, on Wednesday at 2am.
Firefighters from Marple station used a hose reel and breathing apparatus to put the flames out.
But they were unable to prevent the flames damaging to a Nissan Qashqai and the heat from the fire also melted parts of a nearby van and a 4x4 Mitsubishi.
Fire investigators returned to the scene later that day and police are also investigating.
Simon Dowling, watch manager at Marple fire station, said: “The car was completely engulfed in flames when we arrived, there was nothing salvageable.”
A few hours earlier firefighters were called to a road accident on Finney Lane, Heald Green, on Tuesday at 8.05pm.
A taxi and a Ford Focus had collided at the junction with Styal Road.
A woman was treated at the scene and taken to Wythenshawe Hospital as a precaution.
