PARK AND RIDE IS UNDER USED

-

ANY incentives which takes cars off the road and cuts down vehicle emissions on the A6,

especially in the Hazel Grove area, are very welcome.

But as mentioned in the recent article ‘Park and Ride Under Used’ it is questionable as to whether Stagecoach did fully undertake research before funding the parkand-ride project.

Having recently used the train to go from Hazel Grove to Heaton Chapel and returned back to the Grove by bus, I found that the train cost for the single journey was considerably cheaper than the cost of the single bus journey.

Add in that the travel time via the train is a lot quicker and that there is also free parking at Hazel Grove station the park and ride option is not as appealing as it first seems.

Sorry Stagecoach, the Hazel Grove ‘park and ride’ could end up being a white elephant and bus fares could rise in an attempt to recoup some of the alleged £3m the project has cost. Robert Parker Hazel Grove
