Author visit no horror story

-

BUDDING authors had the chance to show their skills in a school writing competition.

Pupils in year five at Banks Lane Junior School, in Offerton, were challenged to write a short story that was no longer than two sides of A4 paper.

The task was set by author Brian O’Gorman who normally pens horror novels but has recently turned his hand to a children’s story called No Dogs Land.

He visited the school and read a segment of the story before setting the children their challenge.

The aim was to stimulate pupils’ interest in reading and creative writing.

Winners were Oliver Roberts, Chloe Ford and Tamsyn Timlin, who each got a signed copy of No Dogs Land.

Teacher Cheryl Rock said: “The children were thrilled to meet a real-life author and quizzed Brian about the writing process. It was great to see an increased enthusiasm for story writing.

“I hope this experience will inspire all of the children and encourage them to write for pleasure for many years to come.”
