Reddish hair salon celebrates birthday with ‘blow dry bar’
A REDDISH hair salon is celebrating its fifth anniversary - by opening a new ‘blow dry bar’.
Jennifer Edwards Hairdressing is marking the milestone by transforming the front of the Gorton Road salon into a dedicated area for customers who just want to have their hair blow dried.
Jennifer, who launched the business in 2010 aims to celebrate its anniversary every year by adding something new to the salon, such as bringing in a new product line.
This year she was inspired to launch the blow dry bar, after seeing how successful the idea has been in salons in Manchester city centre and beyond.
As well as having their hair blow dried by experi- enced stylists, Jennifer is also planning to offer special rates to customers who want to have their hair dried by junior stylist during quieter times.
Jennifer said: “As people are so busy, they sometimes just don’t have time to do their own hair, as it can take a long time for someone to blow dry their hair at home.
“They can just pop in, have their hair blow dried and they are on their way again.
“The other idea behind it is to give some of the younger girls who work here the chance to boost their skills, they’re not just shampooing, they get to have more experience.
“The blow dries we’ll offer will all have different names - the curly blow dry is big and bouncy, we get a lot of girls coming in for them before they go out at the weekend.
“There’s also a sleepover blow dry, where we send customers away with sleep rollers if they have an event the following day, like a wedding, hen do or Christening.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer says the salon has gone from strength to strength since she branched out on her own to open her own business, after years of managing other salons.
The mum of two added: “It’s been hard work, but so good. I was able to have a break to have my 16 month old, and I also have a now seven year old. “I feel lucky to have staff that I really trust, who have stayed with me, it’s enabled me to keep the business going.”
