Heaton Mersey win

- BILL LIVESLEY

HEATON Mersey’s Cheshire Cricket League match against Prestbury was reduced overs due to rain.

Prestbury won the toss and had 31 overs but lost Rami Iyer for 18 – which included two sixes. He was soon followed by Myles Mason for eight, Tom Livesley fell for 11, and – after a good start – Tim Saxon was caught for 16.

The wickets fell steadily with Simon Edmunds going for 12, Mafaz out for 16, and Hibel for a duck.

Julian McGovern did work hard for 21 but was caught going for a big shot.

Prestbury finished on 118-9.

Heaton Mersey only had 20 overs to reach the target but lost three quick wickets.

However, Gandy’s 44 not out and Maliki’s 22 not out saw them over the line with one over to spare.
