Man charged with murder of baby girl

THE family of a twoweek-old baby girl, who died after being admitted to hospital with multiple injuries, have paid tribute to their daughter.

Florence Liberty Mae, from Cale Green, left, was rushed to Stepping Hill Hospital from a house in Shaw Heath after she stopped breathing but sadly died as a result of her injuries on Wednesday.

Matthew Higham, 25, of Shaw Road South, Cale Green, appeared at Manchester Crown Court charged with her murder on Monday and was remanded in custody.

Her devastated family paid tribute to their ‘precious angel’.

Florence Liberty Mae, from Cale Green, was rushed to Stepping Hill Hospital after she stopped breathing but sadly died as a result of her injuries.

Her devastated family said Florence was adored and paid tribute to their ‘precious angel’.

Her mother said: “Florence Liberty Mae was my much- loved daughter and was adored equally by her big sister Amelia, her Nanny and all her family.

“We barely had time to know you, or see you grow and you will be dearly missed.

“The short time we spent with you was precious and you will always be in our hearts, beautiful girl.

“Sleep tight our precious angel.”

Florence was found with injuries at around 8pm on Wednesday night.

Police were called to a house in Shaw Heath following reports that a two- week- old baby girl had stopped breathing.

She was rushed to Stepping Hill Hospital but sadly later died.

A Home Office post mortem revealed the baby had died from multiple injuries.

Matthew Higham, 25, appeared at Manchester Crown Court charged with her murder on Monday.

Higham, of Shaw Road South, Cale Green, was remanded in custody to appear at the same court for a plea and case management hearing on October 19.
