THE Stockport Business Awards 2016 shortlist is out and it’s time to find out a little bit more about the nominees.
The awards, organised by local accountancy practice Clarke Nicklin, are now celebrating their fifth year and each October they recognise the boroughs most innovative businesses.
Shortlisted for ‘The Innovation Award’ are Advanced Mechanical Systems, Great Grounds and UK Biobank. This category is sponsored by Leemic, who have been sponsors of the awards for five years. Nick Pendlebury, director at Leemic, said: “Innovation is at the heart of our business so this category is a natural fit.
“We’re absolutely delighted to once again support the awards and look forward to celebrating the successes of local businesses in October.”

They recruited half a million people aged between 40-69 years from 20062010 to build a detailed picture of people’s lives that can help scientists find out why some people get particular diseases in mid to later life and others do not.
It has participants’ permission to follow their health electronically through a number of medical records and it also stores samples of their blood, urine and saliva in state-of-the-art freezer facilities. This allows for studies on samples both now and long into the future, which will provide more information for a wide range of research on common diseases that cause pain and suffering and premature death.
The winner will be announced at the ceremony which takes place on October 13 at Stockport Town Hall.
