THE devastated family of a woman who died at the hands of an arsonist 10 years ago are appealing again for help finding her killer.

Mother-of-three Julie Duffy, 38, died after the fire tore through her home in Brinnington on September 28, 2006.

But police still haven’t found the killer or killers behind the horrific attack.

Fortunately her children weren’t home at the time but her partner did suffer serious injuries.

Ten years have passed and there are still no clues to who started the fatal fire - and up to £50,000 is on offer to help trace the person or people behind it.

Matt Davies, Julie’s older brother, is urging anyone to come forward and tell police to end his family’s decade of heartache.

The 51-year-old, of Denton, said: “People say time heals, but that’s not true. It’s always there and always difficult to deal with.

“If anything we are more determined now than ever to find who did this. Time heals if you forget about someone, but we can never forget about Julie. She was such a lovely and beautiful person.”

Forensics found that liquid had been posted through the letter box and then set alight - causing a blaze to tear through the house. She died from smoke inhalation.

Matt added: “I want whoever did this to know we haven’t forgotten and will never forget or rest until they are found and prosecuted. Someone, somewhere knows something about what happened and we want them to come forward.”

He said the family had got on with their lives but think daily about what it would be like if Julie hadn’t been killed - and that three children had to carry on life without their mother.

He added: “Someone did this deliberately and killed her. The net is closing in and we will not stop until they are found.”

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Julie’s tragic death a decade ago was the result of a callous attack which officers in the force remember with great sadness. The incident remains an undetected crime and full details of course remain on file.

“As we have not had any new information relating to it, the case is not presently under active review.

“However, if Greater Manchester Police were to receive any new leads, we would pursue these and will never consider the case closed until justice is done.

“A reward of up to £50,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Julie’s death.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimstoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
