- BETH ABBIT beth.abbit@menmedia.co.uk @BethAbbitMEN

THESE stunning panoramic views taken from a drone 90 metres high in the sky show Greater Manchester in all its glory.

Andy Barlow has used the latest technology to capture magnificent shots of some of the region’s most impressive landscapes.

The IT expert, from Reddish, has spent hours positioning his drone in order to capture the perfect photographs.

He has managed to captured spectacular panoramic images of Salford Quays, Reddish Vale Country Park, Walker-wood Reservoir in Stalybridge, Fairfield Golf Course in Audenshaw and Reddish Vale Golf Course.

And he has also ventured outside of the region to take stunning pictures at Sparrow-pit Quarry in Buxton and Oakmere Cricket Club in Northwich.

Each photograph is made up of between 60 and 70 photographs which are then fused together to make one huge landscape.

The impressive images take around 20 minutes to complete using an special iPad app.

Andy, who works as an assistant network manager at Reddish Vale High School, said he has always been fascinated by technology and has become obsessed with creating perfect images.

He said: “I have got a digital camera as well so I’ve taken quite a few images of the Quays over the years.

“I really like doing golf courses and reservoirs and I recently got a nice shot of the Peak District.

“Some of them are really stunning, we’ve got some great scenery around here.”

Andy, 50, has been taking panoramic pictures using his drone for around 12 months.

The image of Salford Quays is based on 62 individual photographs taken in three batches of 20 shots.

Andy said: “There is a bit of red tape about where you can use a drone so I stick to the rules and do it in generally open spaces.

“You can’t use a drone in a built-up area or within 50 metres of structural buildings or within a five mile radius of an airport, so I try to use my common sense.

“I’d love to get some pictures of the city but there are certain rules about where you can and can’t fly a drone.”
