Fundraisers are on ball for £16,000 cancer boost

-

MORE than £16,000 was raised at a glitzy Christmas ball for Beechwood Cancer Care Centre.

Over 300 guests enjoyed the annual Salutions Winter Wonderland Charity Ball at the Midland Hotel, which was hosted by KEY 103 presenter Darren Proctor

The ball was attended by representatives from Beechwood Cancer Care Centre including fundraising manager Angela Gray and Scott Cooke, husband of Kirsty, who last year gave an inspirational speech at the ball, but sadly lost her battle with cancer this year, along with celebrities from Real Housewives of Cheshire, Lauren Stone, Seema Malhotra and Stacey Forsey. Event organisers and Beechwood ambassadors, Salim and Beverley UddinKhandakar, owners of Salutions – which comprises of Didsbury Magazine, Bonus Sapor, Hale & Bowdon Magazine and MediaCity Magazine – were delighted with the amount of money raised.

Salim said: “It was a very special night with some extraordinarily, generous people. This is the largest amount of money we have raised at the ball and we are delighted, as it is a charity and an illness that is close to our hearts – as Beverley has been through breast cancer herself.”

The evening included a meal and auction with entertainment from Michael Moore and Smooth Edge.

Angela Gray, fundraising manager for Beechwood in Stockport, added: “This is a fantastic amount of money and will make a huge difference to all our families. Beverley and Salim are not just our ambassadors, they are true friends of Beechwood and I can’t thank them and all their guests enough for their amazing support.”
