Plaza’s family pantomine Peter Pan is certain to keep audiences hooked
IT’S never too early to Hook your tickets for the North West’s premier family pantomime Peter Pan starring John Altman, the swashbuckling treat that everyone will enjoy as this sensational production commences on Friday, December 2, at The Plaza in the very heart of Stockport and runs through until Sunday, January 8!
Stockport’s iconic 1932 Art Deco Super Cinema and Variety Theatre has become the home of sensational family pantomime since it was saved from potential demolition just over 15 short years ago and with capacity houses, we have become part of the region’s festive tradition welcoming the very best stars of stage and screen to appear in this Yuletide tradition that the entire family can enjoy.
John Altman known to millions of television fans as ‘Nasty’ Nick Cotton in Eastenders along with his extensive career in television and on-stage previously appeared at The Plaza in 2012 in the box office panto smash ‘Aladdin’ and we are delighted that he will be returning to play the truly ‘nasty’ Captain Hook in this year’s magnificent family pantomime production Peter Pan produced and directed at The Plaza by Extravaganza Productions.
Along with a fantastic supporting cast, stunning sets and sparkling costumes The Plaza once again will be the home of family pantomime entertainment this Christmas... oh yes it will!

SEVEN MILES OUT
WE love having a laugh in Stockport! The return of this great live comedy night to Stockport Old Town last month was a sell-out event.
Join us on Thursday for another hilarious evening curated by our very own King of Comedy, Mr Martin Bain.
There’s a quality line-up of great comic talent hosted by MC Danny Sutcliffe with local stand-up David Stanier described as ‘an intrinsically silly human being’ by The Skinny.
We’re hoping that David will be treating us to ‘David Stanier’s Silly Party,’ his party-based comedy show fresh from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
Headline act Gareth Berliner will be familiar to many as ‘Macca’ from Coronation Street often seen hanging around the kebab shop with ill intent. As well as an actor, Gareth has been a stand-up comedian for more than 11 years, which takes him all over the world but it all started when he wrote his first comedy show ‘Gutless’ about living with Crohn’s Disease.
‘Berliner doesn’t just make people laugh, he also has the warmest stage presence in the business. Audiences love him.’
Don’t miss this great night of live comedy up close and personal. Tickets for the evening are just £5 in advance from us or £7 on the door.
On Friday we are delighted to host a new night called the ‘Seven Miles Out Acoustic Sessions’ with local musicians Josh Newton and Kevin ‘Leftie’ Farrell (which refers to how he plays guitar!). We are keen to attract bands or solo musicians who’d like to play acoustic covers as well as their own original material. We’d also love musicians to come and jam together with Josh and Kevin. Doors open at 8pm. On Saturday evening we have another new music night called ‘Eight Miles High’ which showcases up and coming local bands. Don’t miss sets from Hacketts (featuring members of The Mantells) and Cordeliers. Entry is free and doors open at 8pm.
Anyone interested in playing at any of our live music events should email john@ screenstockport.co.uk
