Stockport hit back following early try blitz

STOCKPORT were beaten at home against Lymm at the weekend after the visitors caught them cold with an early try blitz.

However, the home side restored pride despite conceding five tries in the first 20 minutes to get back into game through the forward effort and score two tries of their own.

Lymm got off to a fast paced start and with Stockport hardly touching the ball in the first 20 minutes the visitors notched up a 33-0 lead with five tries and four conversions.

Their fast backs ran strongly and the Stockport defence was unable to contain them.

A further converted try was added before Stockport finished the half strongly and with a 20 phase possession won a penalty in front of the Lymm posts, No 8 Jordan Pearson tapped and forced his way over for Scott Redfern to convert and get Stockport into the game at last. half came with the score at 40-7 to the visitors.

Stockport made a good start to the second half with the forwards making good ground but as they got into the Lymm 22 a penalty was conceded and Lymm ran the ball from the following line out to score wide on the right. A further try followed as the strong running Lymm No 12 outflanked the Stockport defence and forward pressure gave him a second to take the score to 59-7.

With only 10 minutes to go Stockport won a line out and the drive took Stockport over, the try going to No 12 Harry Aldersen, who had given his weight to the drive.

So with the second half score at 19-5 to the visitors this had been a great effort by Stockport following the landslide in the first half.

However, it was Lymm who had the final word with a converted try in the last minute to win 66-12.
