My calls and letters to the town hall all go unanswered

-

I HAVE to agree with the letter from Dave Thornley (Stockport Express, November 30) about contacting the council.

I remember years ago phoning the town hall, you were put through politely to the right person, reasonably quickly.

Now I have sometimes given up waiting and sent a letter instead, but that has gone unanswered.

I do not use a computer or e-mails.

Always on hold for 15 to 20 minutes and having to listen to ‘for more information go to www .... ’ is annoying.

I made two telephone calls in April and May and sent two letters in June and October, each about the same matter, litter, bins and litter collections. All details were given and recorded, yet not even an acknowledgement.

In August, I phoned about a no entry sign that was knocked down and removed in July and not replaced. The woman I spoke to asked if the sign was illuminated or not illuminated - how on earth was I expected to know that!? I was just reporting an important job not yet done. It’s December now and the no entry sign is still missing.

Our road is a busy one way street and traffic often comes up the wrong way.

This is an accident, maybe fatal, waiting to happen, as traffic is always likely to speed.

Several years ago, I was almost in a head on collision here, with a Black BMW driving the wrong way and was saved by my fast reaction and slow speed.

Ignoring these matters is disrespectful to me, using my time on phone calls and two fairly strongly worded letters, all coming to nothing.

Stockport MBC please sort out several problems with the various services offered.

There is need for much improvement. New Year-January would be a good time to start the process. C Bateson Hazel Grove
