Children have a pyjama party in the pool for charity

-

BABIES and children from Puddle Ducks Greater Manchester had fun swimming in their pyjamas at Reddish Vale High School’s pool for charity.

The youngsters raised more than £1,000 for Reuben’s Retreat, which provides bereavement support and counselling for families who have lost their children.

Every autumn, swim school Puddle Ducks hold a week long charity pyjama event where children raise money by attending lessons dressed in their pyjamas, teaching them valuable water safety and survival skills.

Reuben’s Retreat is a charity created by the family of Mottram toddler Reuben Graham, who lost his battle with cancer in 2012.

The organisation owns a retreat in the Peak District to help relieve the distress of families who have suffered the bereavement of a child or have a child suffering from a life limiting illness.

Suzanne Horton from Puddle Ducks said: “As you can imagine this is a charity very close to our hearts. We were delighted to fundraise for Reuben’s Retreat, caring for children and their families helping them in what can be very difficult circumstances.

“Our charity PJ week is a great way of teaching our children important lifesaving skills in a fun and relaxed environment, whilst raising money for a great cause. We had a fabulous time and would like to give a great big thank you to all of our customers and their little Puddle Ducks, as well as Sally-Anne Jones, support and breaks manager at Reuben’s Retreat for joining us and helping us to raise such a fantastic amount.”

Puddle Ducks provides award-winning swimming programmes for babies and children up to the age of ten. Taught by experts, they focus on teaching independent swimming in a nurturing environment with individually tailored activities to suit all abilities. Classes take place across Greater Manchester.
