New year will be inspirational and challenging
A NEW year is a chance to look forward, to set goals, to make changes where appropriate, to repeat successes, to resolve to think differently and seek out new opportunities.
As a child I was always a big fan of Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven and Famous Five.
But I never imagined I would become a new-age fan until this Christmas when I found ‘Five on Brexit Island’ under the tree!
As well as being a humorous read, the concept is inspirational - a great example of innovative thinking. Who would have thought that Ladybird books could once again appeal to and become so popular with the same audience with a different story 40 years on? The Hangover, The Shed, Mid-life Crisis – sheer genius in my eyes.
2016 has indeed been a historic year – Brexit, May, Trump – three words I never expected to say in one sentence and all topics which have divided business, political parties and even friends and families, irrespective of age or political allegiance.
But, it is as a united community that we are strongest and Stockport boasts an excellent example of a dedicated team of businesses working together.
The BID team, the council, the Chamber and the team here at Marketing Stockport share the same vision – to take Stockport from good to great.
We are continually amazed to discover the breadth and depth of businesses across Stockport and are looking forward to visiting many more in 2017, introducing our members and colleagues to new partnerships and the chance to develop and grow their businesses within new arenas.
Nowadays it seems that you are never too old to read the Famous Five or your favourite Ladybird story.
Neither are we ever too old to grasp new opportunities, to make a positive change and keep our resolutions.
And our new year resolution? To support, promote and connect Stockport’s fantastic business community; thank you for helping us to make it happen.
