Childrens’ message of hope

-

THOUSANDS of people around the country have been touched by a message of hope, recorded by a group of Stockport school children.

Youngsters at St Mary’s CE Primary School in Reddish recorded a video called ‘Light the Way’ after being inspired by an assembly which shared the Christian Aid Christmas Appeal.

The four and five year olds, who have been spending time reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas and those less fortunate than themselves, created their video, under the guidance of their teacher Julie Edwards, in support of refugees who are fleeing violence.

It has now been viewed thousands of times after it was posted on the websites of Christian Aid, the school itself and an education organisation.

Headteacher Elizabeth Irvin has since been inundated with messages of support from all over the country, praising the children.

Mrs Irvin said: “The video touched many hearts across the country and I have received many e-mails commenting on the powerful message it conveys.

“We are so proud of their video and how they want to help those less fortunate than themselves. We are touched and overwhelmed by responses received from people all over the country expressing their thoughts and feelings after watching the children’s video.”
