Galleries come together for new art exhibition in Reddish

-

A REDDISH arts charity has joined forces with a Manchester gallery for a collaborative exhibition.

The Arc Centre and Manchester’s PAPER Gallery are launching their exhibition, entitled PAPER, Transformed at the end of the month.

The exhibition features paper-based artwork from established and emerging artists from PAPER Gallery and a selection of people who have completed one of Arc’s creative wellbeing programmes.

It will be held at Arc Gallery in Reddish from Saturday, January 28 until Friday, March 17.

The exhibition title PAPER, Transformed - echoes the belief in the power of creativity to transform people’s outlook, opportunities and wellbeing - the ordinary made somehow magical or extraordinary through a creative process.

Artistic director at Arc Jacqui Wood said: “This is the first exhibition that the Arc Centre has developed and shown with an established gallery.

“We’re incredibly happy to forge links with the excellent PAPER Gallery and we hope this will be the first of many more collaborations.”

David Hancock, director at PAPER, said: “PAPER is delighted to be working with Arc on its forthcoming exhibition PAPER, Transformed.

“This exhibition brings together a number of artists associated with PAPER, including Phill Hopkins, Alice Bradshaw and Alison Waters, alongside three artists who have undertaken our mentoring scheme, Tracing PAPER: Linda Hemmersbach, Lesley Halliwell and Stephanie Shaw.

“These artists have all produced exciting and intriguing works that push the boundaries of what can be achieved using paper. The exhibition at Arc is the start of off site exhibitions that will run throughout 2017.”

Paper arts sessions for adults, including accordion book making and lithography and Arc’s Saturday Art Club activities for all ages will also be running at the centre throughout February and March, as part of Arc’s new public workshop programme starting in January.

PAPER is an established gallery at Mirabel Studios in Manchester, and Arc is an arts centre in Reddish, that focuses on both public events and using creativity to improve wellbeing.

PAPER artists confirmed for the exhibition are: Alison Waters, Phill Hopkins, Linda Hemmersbach, Lesley Halliwell, Stephanie Shaw, and Alice Bradshaw.

Arc artists confirmed for the exhibition are: Lynne Robinson, Yumi Makes, Jane Carney, Michelle Cullen and David Milligan-Croft. See arc-centre.org.
